Avondale Estates Real Estate

Avondale Estates is centered around Lake Avondale, a one-half mile man-made body of water. The town, named for the Avon River in much of William Shakespeare's writings, is noted as one of the earliest planned communities in the South. Located in Dekalb County, the city boasts a population of almost 3000 residents and is convenient to both Decatur and minutes away from Atlanta. The area is MARTA accessible and just off of Interstate 285 making transportation to and from Avondale Estates convenient.

At the onset of the community in 1927, downtown buildings and many of the homes in the area were built in a Tudor style and the structures and unique style still remain intact. Located close enough to Atlanta to give residents access to a large city, homeowners enjoy schools, churches, parks and a variety of retail establishments within walking distance of their homes, reminiscent of small town life.

Avondale Estates residents are civic-minded and work together for the good of the community. This community spirit is alive and well in the number of organizations that have been formed in the area to foster a neighborly spirit and good citizenship. The Avondale Estates Garden Club, Avonwood Homeowners Association, Avondale Community Club and the Avondale Estates Retirees are just a handful of organizations that work together to make Avondale Estates such an appealing place to live.

Students will attend schools in the Dekalb County School System. Avondale Elementary, Avondale Middle and Avondale High schools all provide quality education for area students. Students at all three schools have received a number of honors and have exhibited academic success.

Avondale Estates homes are exquisite in design and boast impressive details. You can even find some of the residences on the historic register of homes. The 1920s Tudor homes for which the area is known, are absolutely stunning. Homebuyers can also choose from European manors and cottages, bungalows and traditional ranch style homes. New custom built homes are also available, including modern craftsman style homes full of character and charm.

Avondale Estates is the perfect town for upscale living with a hometown feel. Homes in the area start in the mid $150s and climb upward from there.
