Canton Real Estate

Known for many years as a mill town, Canton entered a transition when the last two mills closed in 1982. The city now serves as an ideal location for various commercial and residential developments. Undergoing a process of renovation and revitalization, the city is seeing a number of great changes. Millions of dollars in grants have provided for park and sidewalk improvements in the city and the overall improvement of the quality of life for all of the residents of Canton.

The town is situated at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Cherokee County and along the banks of the Etowah River. The city was home to an estimated 17,685 as of 2005 and is growing rapidly due to the pace of development and ever increasing amenities in the area. It's located just off of Interstate 575 which connects the area to Interstate 75 and runs through Atlanta which is just over 30 miles away.

Students living in Canton are served by Cherokee County Public School System. The system has 34 facilities and over a thousand certified faculty and staff members. Both Appalachian Technical Institute and Reinhardt College are a short drive away.

The city of Canton has it's own transit system which consists of buses and trolleys. Residents can hop on a trolley for a short trip from downtown Canton to Riverstone Shopping Plaza or to one of the many restaurants in the city.

You'll find a host of entertainment options in Canton. The Historic Canton Theatre on Main Street features plays and other special events throughout the year. Additionally, you can enjoy free concerts each summer in the natural amphitheater located in Heritage Park. The park, comprised of thirty acres, is the first phase of the Etowah River Greenway and fairly new to the area. Other recent additions include a state of the art YMCA and a new reservoir project that's underway.

Canton boasts one of the highest rates of new construction in Cherokee County attracting respected developers and home builders such as John Wieland and Chatham. This booming real estate market has tons of options. Even the most selective homebuyer will fall in love. Lakefront homes, secluded retreats, equestrian estates, English country manors and golf, swim and tennis communities are all available. Visit Canton and view charming established homes in the low to mid $100s and impressive new construction from the low to mid $200s.
