Dawsonville Real Estate

Dawsonville is a lovely Southern town located approximately 60 miles north of the city of Atlanta. It's convenience to Georgia 400 makes commuting to nearby areas a breeze. Located in Dawson County, the area is rich with Georgia history and home to nearly 1,000 residents.

The city was named after William C. Dawson, a commander of a brigade in the Creek Indian War of 1836 who served in both houses of the state legislature and in Congress before the Civil War. Rustic reminders, such as the historic courthouse built in the 1800s still remain prominent landmarks in the community.

While honoring the city's past, residents of Dawsonville move forward with new traditions as well. This delightful town hosts a number of events yearly including the Annual Community Picnic, Annual Veterans Day Celebration, and the lighting of the town's Christmas tree. Residents enjoy arts, crafts, music and food together during these events which serve as just a few of the many highlights of living in this vibrant, southern community that celebrates the importance of family.

Dawsonville homeowners will also enjoy nearby area shopping and entertainment. The city is convenient to several shopping malls as well as the North Georgia Premium Outlets. Additionally, the Bowen Center for the Arts, Burt's Pumpkin Farm, and the Family Fun Center provide great activities for family fun.

Students in the area will attend schools in the Dawson County Schools System. Teachers pride themselves on providing encouragement, support, and resources to develop knowledge and skills necessary for their students to excel. Nearby private schools provide alternatives for parents, and there are many colleges and universities just a short commute away. Southern Catholic College and Lanier Technical College are located in Dawson County and both have impressive reputations.

Homeowners in the area wake up to mountain views. Sprawling estates and more modest, traditional homes are available. A variety of architectural styles, from Cape Cod to Craftsman homes are nestled in the area's well-manicured neighborhoods. Dawsonville homes in established communities start in the low $100s, while new construction starts in the $160s.
